ScivationScivation is an American sports nutrition company founded in 2004 by Mike McCandless in Burlington, North Carolina. From its early years, the company built its philosophy around science and innovation, focusing on the development of specialized nutritional supplements for athletes and individuals with demanding training routines. Scivation became internationally recognized primarily through its XTEND® product line, which played an important role in the development of the intra-workout and BCAA supplement category. XTEND was originally built around branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), while electrolytes were added to the formula in 2011, further strengthening the range's focus on hydration and athletic recovery. In 2017, Scivation was acquired by Nutrabolt, the company also behind major sports nutrition brands such as Cellucor and C4. Following the acquisition, increased emphasis was placed on expanding XTEND and developing its international presence. Today, XTEND is one of Nutrabolt's core brands, and the official Scivation website now directs visitors to the XTEND product range. The modern XTEND portfolio includes BCAA, EAA, hydration, and recovery-focused formulas, combining amino acids, electrolytes, and other sports nutrition ingredients depending on the individual product formulation. With more than two decades of presence in sports nutrition, Scivation and XTEND have become closely associated with amino acid and intra-workout supplementation. A focus on science-driven development, hydration, and recovery continues to form a central part of the brand's identity. |
