Tudca (Tauro-urso-deoxycholic acid) is a hydrophilic bile acid, which is naturally produced in the human body in very small quantities.
Its main mechanism of action is found in its ability to regulate bile flow and protect cells from stress. Specifically, Tudca reduces stress in the Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) of cells, a process that when disrupted, leads to cell damage and apoptosis (cell death). Due to its hydrophilic nature, it works competitively with toxic hydrophobic bile acids, preventing their accumulation in the liver.

• Tudca improves bile flow (reducing the risk of cholestasis) and helps reduce liver enzymes (ALT, AST) in cases of inflammation or damage. It is considered a powerful liver detoxifier.
• Due to its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier, Tudca is being studied for the protection of nerve cells. Clinical trials have shown positive results in slowing the progression of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
• Tudca appears to provide protection to retinal cells. Research suggests that it may slow the degeneration of photoreceptors, offering benefits in conditions such as retinitis pigmentosa.
